In-world chronology is not reading order. The timeline holds your universe's history — years, negative years, named eras — independent of when the audience learns any of it.
Every fact carries a status — canon, legend, myth, or disputed — a confidence level, and its sources. When two accounts contradict, you don't have a continuity error; you have competing traditions. Contradictions become lore.
Chapters declare which mysteries they open and which they answer, and the tension strip shows unresolved questions moving through the story. A chapter that opens nothing and answers nothing has to justify its existence.
